How Shall We Escape?

How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? How shall we escape, if we ignore the oppression of the poor?

According to God’s Word in Proverbs 21:7, 13, “The violence of the wicked will destroy them, because they refuse to do justice. Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, will also cry himself and not be heard.”

On discrimination, God’s standard is clear, “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord , But a just weight is His delight.” Proverbs 11:1 NKJV

No riches can/will profit in the day of wrath (of God), but righteousness delivers from death. Proverbs 11:4 NKJV

Again, “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.” Proverbs 11:24 NKJV

Leadership is about leading people aright. God says in Amos 5:10‭-‬15 NKJV that:

“They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly. Therefore, because you tread down the poor And take grain taxes from him, Though you have built houses of hewn stone, Yet you shall not dwell in them; You have planted pleasant vineyards, But you shall not drink wine from them. For I know your manifold transgressions And your mighty sins: Afflicting the just and taking bribes; Diverting the poor from  justice at the gate. Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time. Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken. Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

Let’s think about these!

“Therefore hear the word of the Lord , you scornful men, Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem, Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.” Therefore thus says the Lord God : “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place. Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it. As often as it goes out it will take you; For morning by morning it will pass over, And by day and by night; It will be a terror just to understand the report.” For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon— That He may do His work, His awesome work, And bring to pass His act, His unusual act. Now therefore, do not be mockers, Lest your bonds be made strong; For I have heard from the Lord God of hosts, A destruction determined even upon the whole earth.”

Isaiah 28:14‭-‬19‭, ‬21‭-‬22 NKJV

May the Lord guide us to do the right things!
